Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced that corps members will begin receiving a monthly allowance of N77,000 from February 2025.
Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina on Thursday, Yushau Ahmed said the increase had been included in the 2025 Federal Government budget.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed. By next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he stated.
Ahmed urged corps members to appreciate the government’s efforts by serving diligently and assured them of his commitment to their welfare and safety.
He emphasized that no corps member would be posted to areas with security risks, reassuring them that all deployment locations are carefully assessed for safety.
“We will not send our corps members to wherever we have challenges of security threats. Wherever we send them, they should be less assured that the place is safe and secured for them to serve,” he added.
KanyiDaily recalls that in September 2024, the Federal Government approved a 133% rise in the monthly stipend for NYSC members, raising it from N33,000 to N77,000.
