Yoruba Nation advocate Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has stated that many Nigerians no longer take pride in their identity as citizens of the country.
In a video shared online on Thursday, Sunday Igboho, seen at an airport in the UK, blamed the lack of patriotism on widespread corruption, insecurity, and economic hardship.
He argued that if Nigeria cannot function effectively as a unified nation, the different ethnic groups should be allowed to pursue independence.
Igboho highlighted that Yoruba youths, having gained knowledge and experience abroad, are ready to transform the Yoruba Nation into a prosperous and modern society comparable to European countries.
He said, “Even at the airport, there is no security. Your belongings can be stolen from your bag in Nigerian airports. These are some of the things that discourage people from being proud of Nigeria.
“Such experiences make us hesitant to identify as Nigerians. That’s why we advocate for separation. If Nigeria isn’t working, it’s better we go our separate ways.
“Our Yoruba youths, who have traveled the world, are equipped with knowledge and experience. When they return to Yoruba land, they will use it to build and transform the nation into one that mirrors Europe.”
