Stanley Nwabali, goalkeeper for the Super Eagles and Chippa United, has suffered another heartbreaking loss with the passing of his mother, just two months after his father’s death.
Nwabali’s father died in November, hours after the goalkeeper played a key role in helping the Super Eagles secure a vital draw against Benin Republic in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
On New Year’s Day, Stanley Nwabali announced his mother’s death on X, writing, “Rip mom, worst year of my life already,” accompanied by heartbreak and crying emojis.
This tragic news followed a hopeful post earlier in the day, where Nwabali shared a recap of 2024 and expressed excitement for the new year.
Reflecting on the previous year, he wrote, “2024 was a good year, we’re doubling everything in 2025. Thank you Chippa United FC. Thank you Super Eagles. Thanks to all my fans. Let’s do more”
