Ethiopian athlete, Guta Meseret Hirpa won the women’s race at the 2025 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday.
Guta Meseret Hirpa emerged winner in the women category, clocking a time of 2:37:04 to win the $50,000 price money.
This year’s marathon drew around 37,000 participants, competing in both the 10km and 42km races.
The 42km race started at Western Avenue, near the National Stadium in Surulere, and concluded at Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island.
The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon remains a top event for elite long-distance runners, with Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes continuing to dominate the competition.
KanyiDaily reported that Kenyan athlete, Edwin Kibet Koech emerged as the champion of the men’s race at the 2025 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday.
