American Reality star, Porsha Williams has addressed the situation after her estranged husband, Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to Us Weekly, the 60-year-old is currently being held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Records from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Simon Guobadia is detained in ICE custody.
Guobadia’s detention comes as part of a large-scale deportation crackdown under President Donald Trump, who recently signed several executive orders targeting undocumented immigrants.
Reacting to the news, Williams, 43, who is in the midst of divorcing Guobadia, shared her thoughts on Instagram, calling the situation “disheartening.”
“It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family,” she wrote.
Simon Guobadia moved to the U.S. from Nigeria in 1982 but reportedly overstayed his visa and was declared deportable in 1985.
He was arrested in 1987 for bank and credit card fraud and faced additional arrests before being deported in 1992. However, he managed to return a month later.
In 2016, he applied for U.S. citizenship but was denied due to his prior immigration status being “unlawfully granted.” Over the years, he has attempted to appeal the decision but has been unsuccessful.
His detention coincides with President Trump’s recent directive to increase deportations of undocumented people, allowing authorities to remove them to their home countries.
Just last month, Guobadia reflected on his time in the U.S., sharing an Instagram post that read: “Happy Tuesday to all who ever overcame and persevered in life. You are winning #42yearsLivinginAmerica.”
Meanwhile, Porsha Williams filed for divorce in February 2024 after 15 months of marriage. The couple tied the knot in November 2022 but have since been locked in a legal battle.
In September, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star won a court ruling in her favor regarding their prenuptial agreement.
By November, court documents confirmed that she had been granted temporary sole possession of their marital home, with the unrestricted right to film and produce content there.
The divorce comes three years after Porsha Williams was accused of snatching Simon Guobadia, the ex-husband of her friend, Falynn Pina.
