The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested TikTok influencer, Murja Ibrahim Kunya in Kano over allegations of misusing the Nigerian currency, the naira.
According to Daily Trust, a source from the anti-corruption agency confirmed her arrest to Freedom Radio, a Kano-based media outlet, over the weekend.
Tue source said, ‘The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, she will be charged in court for prosecution”
Murja Kunya, who initially started TikTok as a hobby, has since built a full-time career on the platform.
Her account, “Yagayagamen”, has gained widespread attention, but her content has often sparked controversy, leading to several legal issues in Kano State.
Her arrest is part of a broader crackdown, as the EFCC has also detained other TikTok personalities, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, for similar offenses.
