Rivers State Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has approved the disbursement of March salaries for civil servants, public sector workers, pensioners, and suspended political appointees.
The directive was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, who confirmed that the Accountant-General has been instructed to process the payments without delay.
This decision follows mounting pressure from labor unions, particularly the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which recently threatened to launch a statewide strike over unpaid wages.
The NLC had warned that further delays could lead to a complete shutdown of government operations.b
With this announcement, the Rivers State Government aims to ease tensions and address concerns regarding salary payments.
The statement reads: “APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT OF SALARIES FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH, 2025
